At Prestige NY, we love driven women like Ally Zimmerman. Thankfully, her mother is now in remission from stage IV breast cancer. Zimmerman is celebrating this victory by running the New York City Marathon on November 1. She will be running it for the first time, and has joined Team BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation).
According to Zimmerman, “If she could make that impossible happen, why couldn’t I make this happen?” This dedicated daughter has raised nearly $4,000 for the fight against breast cancer, and she isn’t finished yet. She is planning several events in the Manhattan area in order to drive more funds. So far, her outreach efforts have consisted of postcards and an online campaign. We at Prestige NY note that she also posts information about her training online using an Instagram handle.
“Cancer doesn’t pick the timing, the people, or the stage,” she said. “Right now it is not something we can completely control or predict, but in the future I know it can be something we can stop and prevent. I hope that by elevating the importance of fundraising for organizations that support and conduct groundbreaking studies, we will be able to determine the cure for cancer one day. Raising money for something I believe in and also having the opportunity to surpass a personal goal is going to feel nothing but amazing when I pass the finish line.”
